Press release from the issuing company

Solution Provides Variety of Options for Several Segments of Print-on-Demand Market NEW YORK--April 23, 2002-- T/R SYSTEMS, INC., a leader in developing innovative solutions for the management and production of digital documents, and Canon U.S.A. , a leader in networked imaging systems, announced today the immediate availability of T/R Systems' MicroPress X Series document production servers for use with high-volume Canon imageRUNNER and CLC color production systems. This announcement was made at the Canon Digital Solution Forum, and the On Demand Digital Printing & Publishing Strategy Conference and Exposition, both held in New York City. T/R Systems' innovative MicroPress X Series is at the heart of this print-on-demand (POD) solution. The MicroPress is a document production server for POD customers that bridges the gap between low-volume workgroup printing and high-volume centralized printing. By combining powerful document "make-ready" capabilities, sophisticated color management, advanced job management and workflow tools and unique print device connectivity options, the MicroPress X Series provides customers with a scalable production printing system. The MicroPress X Series includes the MicroPress SX, DX and MX models, each of which addresses a different segment of the POD market from low-to-high volume. In addition to previously announced support for the imageRUNNER 110, 105, 8500, 550, 600 and 60 models and the CLC5000, the MicroPress now supports the imageRUNNER 85 and 7200 models. The imageRUNNER devices are mid-to-high speed black & white digital production systems that cater to demanding business environments. The CLC5000 is a 50-page per minute production color system for high-end environments. "T/R Systems is very excited to combine efforts with Canon to provide new connectivity options for POD environments," said Mike Kohlsdorf, President and CEO of T/R Systems. "Our ongoing aim is to allow customers to maximize productivity, reduce costs and increase capabilities. This collaborative effort will clearly achieve this, meeting the high expectations of Canon customers." "Canon expects great things from its partnership with T/R Systems," said Tod Pike, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Canon U.S.A. Imaging Systems Group. "There has been substantial pre-launch demand for the MicroPress X Series, supporting our belief that this alliance will allow Canon to significantly expand its base of Print On Demand customers." On-site integration of this robust POD solution is available to customers through authorized Canon U.S.A. dealers and Canon Business Solutions locations.
