Press release from the issuing company
U.S. papermaker sells more than 100 premium coated and uncoated papers specially engineered for digital printing equipment; papers are sold at value price points
NEW YORK--April 22, 2002-- SMART Papers offers the broadest array of premium coated and uncoated papers specifically engineered to provide crisp graphics and ease of processing in today's desktop and production-rated digital printing equipment.
"For most papermakers, digital papers are little more than an afterthought," says Garth Geist, Director of the SMART Digital Papers business unit. "Not so at our company. They are a major part of our business as demonstrated by the breadth and quality of our digital lineup."
"Supplying digital printers requires manufacturers committed to digital papers," said Merilyn Dunn, a director for the Norwell, Mass.-based international consulting firm CAP Ventures. "SMART Papers is well positioned in the digital papers market offering responsive service and product innovation. They have met the unique needs of digital printers since their startup in early 2001--and continue to develop papers to meet the ever changing needs of today's printing equipment."
The company offers more than 100 digital papers under the company's core brands including Kromekote, Carnival, Benefit and Knightkote Matte. Among the newest products are Kromekote Inkjet Photographic Quality Papers and Kromekote Laser High Gloss 12-pt. Cover.
Geist said the Kromekote Inkjet Photographic Quality Papers are the smoothest, glossiest and fastest-drying inkjet papers on the market today. "They are also one of the brightest and most economical photographic papers now available," the paper industry veteran said.
Kromekote Laser High Gloss is the smoothest sheet specifically designed for laser printing and color copying. It is engineered with a special coating that literally anchors the toner to the surface. The Kromekote Laser High Gloss line has added the 12-point sheet to accompany its other text and cover grades. The 12-point sheet was developed in response to straight paper paths in laser and color copy equipment.
SMART Digital Papers are sold via more than 300 paper distributors across North America, Mexico and the Caribbean. They are also sold through 130 xpedx Paper & Graphics stores across the U.S. and at Kelly Paper stores west of the Rockies.
The company recently joined forces with CAP Ventures of Norwell, Mass., to produce the most current and definitive primer on digital printing available anywhere. Titled, "Today's Digital Imaging," the book is available at the On Demand Expo 2002 in New York (SMART Papers Booth 670) or by calling SMART Papers at 800-443-9773.
Geist said SMART Papers provides customers "a wide choice of papers--at value price points--for all desktop and production rated printing equipment. We're actively developing new products for the next generation of digital printing technology. Our expertise and product support is unmatched in the marketplace."
