Remember the television commercial that said you've got your peanut butter on my chocolate - you've got your chocolate in my peanut butter? Well, printing and mailing are becoming something new, and it's getting hard to tell whether it's mailing that is becoming mixed up with printing, or printing that's becoming mixed up with mailing. The end result  more companies are finding ways to offer both services.

While large commercial printers have had data management and mailing capabilities for many years, the more moderate-sized printer has generally handed off finished printing to a mail house. And mailing service bureaus were just that  services addressing and sorting finished mail pieces that had been printed somewhere else. There was very little crossover in the services they provided.

The Great Divide Becomes Shallower
