Xerox was helped by a huge tax refund this year and more output of color pages. Sales rose 2.3%. About 48% of the company's equipment sales in the third quarter were from color products, a year-over-year increase of 7 points. Total revenue from color systems grew 16% in the third quarter and now represents 36% of the company's revenue. The number of pages printed on Xerox color systems grew 35%. The results included a gain of $416 million from a tax refund as a result of completion of a U.S. tax audit for the years 1999 to 2003.
