Paper is Getting a Bad Rap Part 2; What can you do?

This is a follow up to last month’s article, “Paper is Getting a Bad Rap”. It focuses on what individuals and organizations are doing to help clear up some of the misinformation surrounding paper and print.

Thanks for all the posts from last month’s article about paper getting a bad rap. Since there are people and organizations that want to make sure the public gets the straight story, I thought I would do a follow up article on what is going on and what you can do to help communicate the story.

I want to make it clear up front – I am not writing these articles as a reaction to the growth of electronic media in communication. Perceptions often drive motivations. If people believe paper and print are bad for the environment, prejudices are formed and the facts about how to best communicate your message to your end customer can get lost.

As stated in the first article, Domtar is very active in their campaign to educate the public on the facts about paper. Besides the excellent information on www.paperbecause.com web site they are running ads in publications such as National Geographic, The New York Times, Fast Company and two political publications Politico and Roll Call. They are also running a sponsorship on NPR. These ads will appear throughout the year.
