While many press OEMs may be short on inventory due to supply chain issues, there are still presses getting installed. In our June report we rounded up 13 inkjet presses at 12 companies and in July we saw the same number of presses, each a onesie. Despite the heat, a couple of companies were really having some fun with their new press. I’ve included links to two videos below. If you aren’t interested in fun, you can skip to the table at the bottom.

In July there was a mix of formats, but sheet-fed presses were in the majority with eight overall comprised of four B3, three B2 and one great big B1. Of the five web-fed presses, three were 2-up and two were label rolls. One of the label roll presses was the second Domino N610i to be installed at AJK Etiketten und Barcodesysteme GmbH in Langen Germany. Speaking of Germany, I want to thank Ralf Schlözer in Berlin for his help spotting inkjet installations in Europe and keeping us on our toes (plus he writes great articles – in two languages!)

June installations skewed toward books and labels. In July labels in the mix, but it was truly a mix with a lot of companies doing more than one thing. We counted three producing transaction print and direct mail and two in labels. There were also two in commercial print, but one is using inkjet for signage and photo specialty as well. Continuing the twos – we also found two online printers adopting inkjet along with two in-plants operations. We found one sign and display company and also a big B1 sheet install with America's fifth largest corrugated packaging company, Pratt Industries. What’s missing? Books. I bet there was at least one installation in the book segment, but no one is talking. See the full list below.

Doing the OEM numbers, this month we counted three Ricoh installs, two each from Canon, Fujifilm and Xerox and one each from Domino, Konica Minolta and Screen. As I say every month, this is not indicative of the total number of installations but rather of the companies that are willing to make their press choice public. Tadaaz and Printed.com didn’t just make their press choice public, they publicly celebrated their choice.

Tadaaz posted a time-lapsed video of their press installation where you really get to see the guts of the Canon VarioPrint iX3200 (and how hard those installers work! )They also included a celebratory deal for their customers “Wij vieren de komst van onze nieuwe printer met gratis proefdrukken! “ (translated below). We all love those gratis proefdrukken.

As great as it was to see the details of the Tadaaz ramp up, I have to give top marks to the interpretive dance video from Printed.com celebrating their new Canon press. These people clearly have some fun at work.
