Have you ever wanted to hold a color globe just to systematically navigate between colors and explore how they blend into each other? Have you ever wanted to physically display the color wheels' gradual relational value from any given color to the next? What about show chromaticity and saturation values visually going lighter and darker.
Inkjet Insight has been on a mission to find Cool Tools which make our lives easier. For printers to prepress and designers, there are tools and innovations across the world which help with the processes or create a better understanding of our creative, colorful world; and we are out to find them.
For this search we went across the globe, the color globe that is, to bring you the world of color.
Introducing Kolormondo, a Swedish company bringing an understanding of color relationships to everyone with its patent-pending educational products.
Kolormondo’s 3D offset printed color globe explains the color wheel by constructing a DIY kit color wheel kit around the equator with gray scale filling in between the north and the south pole.
This fun kit is made up of flat die cut pieces and wedges which when popped out and assembled, shows the flow between chromatic and saturation with primary, secondary, and tertiary color hue values.
Starting at the Equator, it hosts pure hues, which are the base of the color circle.
As you travel to the North Pole the lighter the colors become and moving south, they get darker. Towards the globe's core, colors gradually turn grey. A pillar or a column between the North and the South Pole is the grey scale.
Using 570 colors designers and students can see how the colors relate and flow in a fun build it yourself project.
For those looking for a fun gift for your color eccentric friend or co-worker, this would make a great surprise. It even has a pre-die cut hole if you would like to use it as a holiday decoration.
I ordered one small DIY globe for 149 SEK (Swedish Krona) which is about $17.00 USD. It did take about 4 weeks to receive, so plan ahead if you are of ordering.
Check them out. They also have great lecture and training material all about our wonderful world of color.
