Printing Company 'Verhaag Drukkerij' invests in ROLAND 708P EVOLUTION LED-UV offset press

Press release from the issuing company

Verhaag Drukkerij located in Oldenzaal (The Netherlands) has invested in a Manroland offset press with the latest LED UV technology. The successful professional printer from the east of the country has chosen the ROLAND 708P EVOLUTION press with eight printing units (4/4) and UV dryer. The press was installed on the 1st of August 2017.

The energy-saving revolutionary UV drying makes sure that the sheets are dry when they come out of the press. This enables huge savings on lead time, enabling Verhaag Drukkerij to deliver faster and at unrivaled print quality on a large number of substrates.

Fast and Good

In his function of Technical Director at Verhaag Drukkerig, Mr. Hendrik Jan van Heteren is responsible for the investment. "The new press will be replacing our existing resses. The press fills the demand for smaller high quality runs and fast delivery. We can dramatically reduce the delivery times, and that's because the customer just asks for it."

Verhaag Drukkerij produces all kinds of printed matter, from which brochures and magazines represent an important part.

Van Heteren: "It does not only concern delivery time, we also want to increase our quality. Becuase the sheets are dry when they come out of the press, the ink no longer has the time to get into the paper and fade. What comes out of the press approaches the digital printed material of the HP Indigo's. This also benefits interchangeability".

ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION

The option of energy saving LED UV drying technology on the ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION press offers a lot of advantages to the printers: more vibrant colours, a higher productivity on a wide range of substrates, significant cost savings and environmental benefits as well as a greatly increased profitability for short runs. LED UV technology provides immediate drying on paper, synthetic or metalized substrates and because there is no longer a need for spray powder, it offers huge advantages for the environment.

The power and control units for LED UV are compact and energ saving, with a power consumption of only 50-70% compared to LEC UV and of only 20% - 30% compared to traditional UV drying, as such they leave a much smaller ecological footprint. They are fully integrated into the press and the segmentation of the power yields additional savings. LED UV drying makes short work of the marking issues on the press and combines a higher colour luster with more sharpness, while removing the need for a protective coating. The ink dries immediately under the LED UV light, so that no further surface protection is required. Because the LED process generates UV light without heat, the presses can run with low pile temperature, without curling of the paper or other register problems.

While listing the advantages of the LED UV drying technology on the ROLAND EVOLUTION press, Stefan Finger, Head of the R&D department at Manroland Sheetfed, gave the following comment: "The advantages of the LED UV technology on the ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION are triple: better printing quality than we ever thought possible, combines with significantly lower energy consumption and an immediate finishing after production, offering a significantly higher efficiency."

LED technology can be applied to the majority of ROLAND presses, both new as retrofit.
