Oce Digital Technology and Training Curriculum Selected for New State-of-the-Art Vocational School

Press release from the issuing company

Boca Raton, FL – March 6, 2006 —Oce, a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, announces that Océ printing technology, workflow software and the Océ Graphic Communications Curriculum have been selected for the new Worcester (MA) Vocational High School, scheduled to open in September 2006. This innovative training program will help students learn the digital trade and gain high-demand skills that put them on the cutting edge of the digital printing business. The state-of-the-art school will serve 1,500 day students, plus an after-hours population of some 3,000 students in over 100 classrooms, 24 learning centers, numerous shops, support areas, retail stores, restaurants, a fully operational bank, automotive repair and collision service areas, a health clinic, as well as meeting and tourism facilities. This is the first new vocational high school to be built in Massachusetts in over 25 years, and the $60 million, 400,000 square foot skills center will help fuel local business growth. Eventually the Worcester training program will be used as a template offered to other vocational schools throughout the Commonwealth. “The Océ Graphic Communications Curriculum prepares students for the technology changes ahead and provides them with a promising career in the print industry. It’s a win-win opportunity for educators, the printing industry, the community, and most importantly, the students. The digital print market requires a skilled labor pool to meet market demands, while students need the education and training necessary to qualify them for this rewarding work,” said Joyce Virnich, vice president of marketing for Océ Digital Document Systems. “We are proud to play a part in creating a real-world environment for learning skills that are already in demand, with additional growth expected for years to come.” As the third largest manufacturing industry in the United States, the multi-billion dollar printing business offers significant long-term career opportunities. Nationally, the U.S. Department of Labor projects a continued 4.6 percent job growth rate through 2012 in printing and related services. To support this growing demand, Océ and curriculum developers, Chesnut & Associates, responded with professionally developed training to address the need for a skilled labor pool. In addition to the special curriculum, Worcester Vocational will incorporate a variety of Océ digital printing systems and Océ PRISMA? workflow software technology valued at more than $1 million. The hands-on learning environment will include Océ Doc Works? Pro workflow software, multiple Océ VarioPrint? multi-functional devices, and Océ CPS digital color production systems for cost-effective, 100 percent consistent full color output. With access to the latest document production technology from Océ and the Océ PRISMA software platform, students gain skills and experience they can use in virtually any environment.
