Baldwin Technology: Integrated Solutions to Show at IPEX

Press release from the issuing company

March 4, 2002 - Baldwin Technology Company, Inc., the leading international manufacturer of press accessory and control equipment for the printing industry, will exhibit a new line of customer driven integrated solutions designed to increase productivity and reduce costs to printers. Making a Difference through Customer Driven Solutions The backbone of Baldwin's integrated solution is a new generation of deeply integrated systems with common design of the electronic, fluid, and temperature controls, which support Baldwin’s market-leading Automated Cleaning, Dampening and Temperature Control, and Drying and Curing technologies, products, and systems. Customer Driven - Automated Cleaning Baldwin's range of IMPACT“ automatic blanket cleaning products will be showcased in the automatic cleaning zone. IMPACT systems reduce make-ready times and lower consumption of washcloth rolls resulting in savings for the printer. The systems include compact washing bars, control cabinets with operator’s display and PREPAC“ wash cloth rolls impregnated with an environmental friendly washing agent. IMPACT is suitable for installation in new presses or can be adapted to fit existing web and sheet-fed press widths. Customer Driven - Dampening and Temperature Control The dampening and temperature control zone will feature a number of products including the BasicLiner series of compact fountain solution units with a control and circulating system for sheet-fed and web offset presses. The BasicLiner ensures there is always an adequate quantity of clean premixed fountain solution stabilised at the correct temperature. With a tank capacity of between 30 and 300 litres the Baldwin BasicLiner range is suitable for new presses and retrofitting to existing presses. Also demonstrated in this area will be Baldwin LithoSpray spray dampening systems. The LithoSpray system has patented valves allowing a higher spraying cycle frequency to ensure a uniform dampening of the plate cylinder. An extremely short reaction time means the required dampening level is reached quickly and start-up waste is reduced. Customer Driven - Drying and Curing Baldwin’s GraphiSet IR drying and GraphiCure UV curing systems will be featured in the drying and curing zone. The GraphiSet IR drying system uses shortwave infra-red drying modules to efficiently dry inks and water-based coatings on presses from low pile to large-format double coater configurations. GraphiSet improves production, reduces spray powder and is designed for maximum press speeds. The GraphiCure system offers ultra-violet curing for carton, paper and heat sensitive materials. With optimum UV transmission, heat management and water cooled shutters, it enables heavier solids in a single press pass. The GraphiCure and GraphiSet ranges are compatible and can be combined to give a fully comprehensive system. Both systems will feature touch screen controls. Customer Driven – Web Accessories Baldwin will also demonstrate a range of web accessory equipment including the WebCatcher S15, the world’s fastest web catching system, and MicroSet 497, the fold softening and fold gluing system. Baldwin’s Solutions are throughout IPEX Baldwin will have products and systems in operation on presses in the stands of more than a dozen press manufacturers throughout IPEX.
