Award-Winning Alluvion Marquee Project Highlights Craftsmanship, Creativity and Community Impact in Traverse City
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Image360 Traverse City, a leading provider of custom signage and visual communications solutions, has been recognized by Alliance Franchise Brands with the Project of the Year award for the third consecutive year. The award honors the center’s work on the Alluvion Marquee at Commongrounds, a custom exterior marquee installation located in downtown Traverse City that blends architectural signage, classic marquee design and modern display technology.
Created for Commongrounds Cooperative, a nonprofit performing arts and wellness center, the marquee was designed to serve as both a functional signage element and a recognizable architectural landmark. The project features a hand-built aluminum structure with custom channel letters, electronic message centers, LED neon accents, classic marquee lighting and precision-routed acrylic components, all engineered to withstand northern Michigan’s climate while meeting local zoning and historical requirements. The project was also recognized with a Builder's Exchange of Northwest Michigan Award of Excellence in Construction, further highlighting the craftsmanship and collaboration behind the installation.
“This project represented an opportunity to create something that went beyond traditional signage,” said Andrew Kohlmann, owner of Image360 Traverse City. “The marquee was designed to reflect the creative and welcoming spirit of the space while also creating a strong visual presence downtown. Receiving this recognition for the third consecutive year is incredibly rewarding and speaks to the talent, collaboration and craftsmanship our team brought to every stage of the project.”
The project required nearly a year of planning, coordination, engineering, fabrication and installation, with Image360 Traverse City managing the process from concept through completion while working alongside architects, engineers, subcontractors and city officials. Installation took place during winter conditions along one of downtown Traverse City’s busiest corridors. Alongside Kohlmann, Rachel Peterson and Eli McNaughton were also collaborators who worked together to lead the project’s design, planning and coordination efforts, as well as the management of fabrication and installation.
Located at 1702 Barlow Street, Image360 Traverse City has served the local community since 1990, and Kohlmann has led the business for the past 18 years. The center specializes in custom signage, graphics and visual communication solutions for businesses and organizations throughout northern Michigan.
