With the overcapacity in the traditional (offset) print business, are many companies still buying offset presses? One has to also wonder about Presstek's stock price of about 56 cents/share.
A Presstek DI is a unique press that combines the best of both a digital and offset press. In fact, there is no other press on the market that can go from digital file to printed sheet in six minutes and print at 16,000 impressions per hour. It is also the most economical press in the market for four-color jobs between for runs between 500 and 20,000, which is the range of most jobs being run today. It prints high quality output (300lpi and FM) with the ability to print on a wide range of stocks, and it possesses the robustness to run 24/7, 365 days a year.
At Presstek we believe that printing most efficiently is about choosing the right tool for the job: a conventional press for the long runs, a DI press for the mid-range runs (500 to 20,000), and a digital toner device for personalization and short runs.
Presstek DI are really unique machines (52DI, 75DI), combined digital and dry offset printing, without chemicals and VOC's, achieving a very high quality.
