Another great message from one of our industry’s own millennial warriors. Great job Nick.

Great post Nick! Digital natives do and will continue to value print as a quality upgrade to a digital display. As printers we need to have that quality message threaded through and through our organizations. And that does indeed include how we treat our fellow employees, as you so clearly articulated here. I can tell you that our engineers at Blurb really appreciate their role in creating at physical product.

You're right on, Nick!
If anyone is interested in learning what the FuturePrint alliance of Print/Visual Communications leaders in Minnesota are doing to address this very critical issue, I'd be happy to share.

I appreciate all the feedback!

@John, thank you for the encouragement.

@Bruce, you are exactly right. The perks of working at Blurb are also very noteworthy for others looking for examples of benefits outside of a title and salary. Birthdays off, catered lunch, office massage, etc.

@Fern, can’t wait to connect soon and hear more about the great activity in Minnesota.

Very helpful and I think you're dead-on, Nick. We're all worried about the future of our industry so I know we appreciate your insights!

Frank comments on the postponement of drupa and its effect on the printing industry. Vendors who were planning to introduce new technologies in Dusseldorf will now use fall events like Brand Print America and PRINTING United to do so—or, like HP, host their own virtual events. Regardless, the COVID-19 crisis is going to make this a challenging year for the industry, but hopefully we will come out on the other side.

Frank takes us on a short tour of the venerable Mergenthaler Linotype machine, which Thomas Edison called “The Eighth Wonder of the World.” It revolutionized typesetting in the early 20th century and was only supplanted by the advent of phototypesetting. The Museum of Printing has a Linotype Legacy Program to help preserve this device, as well as provide training and education programs on its operation and maintenance.

Now we know the coronavirus situation is really serious: Warren Werbitt does not want to talk about print. This is an unprecedented time, and Warren calls for everyone to work together, regardless of politics, race, color, religion, etc., to help combat a virus that has no boundaries. Don’t do anything that will put others at risk, and try to remember that everyone is in the same position—a little bit nervous and trying to get to a good place.
