manroland Sheetfed - Landa Partnership

Tuesday, May 01, 2012

Press release from the issuing company

manroland sheetfed GmbH of Offenbach, Germany, and Landa Corporation of Rehovot, Israel, today announced a strategic partnership whereby Landa will provide manroland sheetfed with its groundbreaking Nanographic Printing technology.

Raphael Penuela, Executive Vice President and main board member for manroland sheetfed says, "manroland sheetfed is committed to helping our customers meet the challenges of today's printing industry with the most innovative and productive solutions. Clearly, that must include digital for mainstream printing. Landa Nanographic Printing technology offers the versatility of digital printing together with the qualities and speed of offset printing. It's a great strategic fit. Our goal will be to deliver to our customers new digital printing solutions by converting their existing offset presses to Nanography."

Benny Landa, Landa Founder, Chairman and CEO, says, "As the newly restructured manroland sheetfed starts a new chapter, I am enthused that the company will adopt Landa Nanography™ on which to base its digital printing offerings. Nanography and offset are a perfect fit. In the foreseeable future we will not see a digital printing technology capable of replacing offset for job run lengths of tens or hundreds of thousands. But the market demands ever-shorter run lengths as well as the versatility of digital. That's where Landa Nanographic Printing comes in - at unmatched cost per page."

At the heart of the Nanographic Printing process is Landa's water-based NanoInk. Comprised of pigment particles only tens of nanometres in size, these nano-pigments are extremely powerful absorbers of light and enable unprecedented image qualities. Landa Nanographic Printing is characterised by ultra-sharp dots of extremely high uniformity, high gloss fidelity and the broadest CMYK colour gamut.

Landa Nanographic Printing employs ink ejectors to create the digital ink images which get applied to the printing stock in a process that can operate at extremely high speeds and creates images offering remarkable abrasion and scratch resistance. Most notably, it can print on any off-the-shelf substrate, from coated and uncoated paper stocks to recycled carton; from newsprint to plastic packaging films - all without requiring any kind of pre-treatment or special coating - and no post-drying. Adding to this cost benefit is the fact that Nanographic images are only 500 nanometres thick - about half the thickness of offset images - enabling Landa NanoInk™ to produce the lowest cost-per-page digital images in the industry. All of this from a water-based, energy-efficient and eco-friendly process.

Benny Landa concludes, "manroland sheetfed is one of the world's leading providers of sheetfed offset presses and solutions with a longstanding tradition of excellence. This new partnership combines the prestigious manroland brand with the power of Nanography, enabling manroland's extensive customer base to go digital by converting their existing manroland presses to Nanography."
