KPG Appoints Dr. Kiyoo Shimada President & CEO of Japan Region

Norwalk, Connecticut, USA - July 15, 2002 - Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) has named Dr. Kiyoo Shimada as President and Chief Executive Officer of its graphics arts business in Japan. In his new role, he becomes an officer and Representative Director of KPGs Japan subsidiary (KPG Japan) and a member of KPGs Leadership Team. I am very excited about Dr. Shimadas appointment and am confident that his customer driven technical and marketing leadership, as well as his international experience, will ensure that we continue to deliver optimum value to our customers in Japan, said Jeff Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer, KPG. Most recently, Shimada served as President of MEMC Japan Ltd., a leading worldwide provider of silicon wafers for the semiconductor industry, and as Corporate Vice President of its parent company, MEMC Electronic Materials Company, Inc. He joined MEMC Japan in 1981 and quickly rose through the company, holding positions of increasing responsibility including Plant Manager and Director, Director Product Marketing, Executive Vice President and Representative Director and Corporate Vice President and President, Japan. Dr. Shimada holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Syracuse University and a B.S. degree in Polymer Chemistry from Kyoto University in Kyoto Japan. He also spent two years in a postdoctoral research program at the Polymer Research Center of New York University.
