Kodak Approval XP System Earns SWOP Re-Certification
Press release from the issuing company
Norwalk, Connecticut, USA -- July 2, 2002 -- The Kodak Approval XP Digital Color Proofing System from Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) recently received re-certification as a SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) Certified Proofing System. SWOP Certification signifies that the Approval XP Digital Color Proofing System will reliably predict final printed color in the web offset environment.
To be considered for the SWOP Certification Mark for off-press proofing systems, manufacturers provide directions for producing proofs as closely as possible to the appearance of the SWOP Certified Press Proof as defined in ANSI CGATS TR 001, "Graphic Technology-Color Characterization Data for Type 1 Printing." A visual match to TR 001 is judged for SWOP, since it has been determined to be more effective than a strict numeric match to the press sheet.
The Approval XP Digital Color Proofing System has earned SWOP Certification each year since 1999 when such certification became available.
"SWOP Certification is important because it assures our customers that the Approval XP Digital Color Proofing System produces proofs that accurately and consistently represent the appearance of final web offset-printed materials," said William L. DeMarco, Worldwide Product Line Manager, Digital Halftone Proofing, Kodak Polychrome Graphics
With an output of over 16 pages per hour, the Approval XP system ranks as the fastest digital halftone proofing system in its class. Recipe Color software and new metallic, green and orange donors allow the Approval XP system to accurately produce literally millions of spot colors without the need to stock additional donors. Delivering unrivaled productivity, the system’s automated roll-feeding mechanisms ensure minimal operator intervention and the production of clean, dust-free proofs.
