Premier Markings Installs Xeikon 3030 to Grow Production of Custom Digital Labels

Press release from the issuing company

Ontario company achieves higher print quality and better response times for customers

Itasca, IL - Xeikon NV, an innovator in digital color printing technology, announced today that label printer Premier Markings, Inc., based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, has purchased and installed a Xeikon 3030 digital color press.

Premier Markings, which has more than 25 years in the printing and labeling industry, is a leading supplier of custom labels, including decal labels, food labels, bottle labels, industrial labels, thermal labels and product labels.

The company purchased the Xeikon press to increase its label production for short to medium runs, improve its response times for customers, and to achieve a higher printing quality - which included being able to print labels with a higher white opacity.

"We were doing very small digital jobs. Anything more than 2,000 labels was Flexo printed," said Gary Moody, owner of Premier Markings Inc. "We wanted to save our customers money on larger runs, improve turnaround and reduce waste. Earlier, we were unable to produce labels on some of the clear and silver metallic stocks digitally and had to acquire plates with an additional cost to our customers. Now, with the Xeikon 3030, we can easily handle these with no added plate cost and with a higher quality.

Prior to installing the Xeikon press, Premier Markings' existing digital label technology could only cost-effectively handle jobs of roughly 500 to 2,000 labels. Now, with the Xeikon 3030, the company can run label jobs of much higher runs, and still be very competitive with flexo technology. The Xeikon press has also enabled Premier Markings to expand its offerings and grow its client base.

The Xeikon 3030 is the entry-level narrow web press of the Xeikon 3000 Series of digital label & packaging presses. It has a variable web width ranging from 7.9 inches to 13 inches. The press runs at a top speed of 31.5 feet per minute and can handle monthly production volumes of up to 1.2 million square feet.

"It's great to see that the Xeikon technology has had an immediate impact on Premier Markings' business," said Todd Blumsack, Vice President Sales of Xeikon America, Inc. "By having the Xeikon technology in-house, Premier Markings is able to be a full-service partner to its customers, with faster response times and higher print quality. We look forward to a long-lasting partnership and continued growth for this innovative company."
