Diamond Packaging adds additional Speedmaster UV Press

Press release from the issuing company

Kennesaw, Ga. – Diamond Packaging, a high-end printing and packaging company based in Rochester, NY recently installed a state-of-the-art, UV-capable, 8-color Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 in a special double coating configuration with initial flexo dispersion coater and three modular deliveries. The company acquired the new press in order to service existing customers, attract new business, and grow revenues and employment. The new machine joins a pressroom lineup that already boasts a 7-color Speedmaster CD 102 UV press and a 6-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 UV press with double coater.

“Packaging is a very capital intensive business. Our customers are continually demanding new technology, faster turnaround, increased service, and greater flexibility and capability,” said Diamond Packaging CEO, Karla Fichter. “Investing in new technology is a long-standing tradition at Diamond and allows us to satisfy the demands of our customers and grow organically.”

“This acquisition is exciting in that it represents the state-of-the-art in package printing technology,” said Diamond Packaging President, Kirsten Werner. “Our new press will provide Diamond with an unprecedented combination of cost innovation and sustainability.”

Diamond financed the acquisition with an award from the Upstate (NY) Regional Blueprint Fund, along with a combination of SBA 504 funds approved through the Monroe County Industrial Development Corporation, bank financing, and cash equity. Commencing with the installation of the new Speedmaster XL 105, Diamond Packaging further advances its reputation for outstanding customer service, based on the XL 105’s game-changing technology.

The custom arrangement of coating and drying units on the new Speedmaster XL 105 grants the multi-award-winning company an ability to produce high-gloss applications with dispersion or other coatings, in addition to gold, silver or other special effects increasingly in demand from Diamond’s discerning customers in the cosmetic, health and personal care, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and food and confectionery industries. From the high-performance Prinect Press Center control station to the Prinect Inpress Control inline color and register control system, to the optimized Preset Plus feeder and extended delivery, the Peak Performance Speedmaster XL 105 enables users to meet most exacting customer requirements for quality and productivity at speeds to 18,000 sph in UV or conventional modes.

“Diamond Packaging continues to entrust its reputation for innovation and excellent customer service to Heidelberg technology,” said Clarence Penge, vice president of sheetfed product management, Heidelberg USA. “We’re confident the Speedmaster XL 105 will very quickly become a cornerstone of the company’s continued success.”
