Cornerstone Copy Center Installs Its First Heidelberg Press To Meet Demand For Full-Color Jobs

Press release from the issuing company

KENNESAW, Ga., February 8, 2004 – Cornerstone Copy Center, a small commercial print shop located in Burnsville, Minn., announced today that it has installed its first Heidelberg press, a Quickmaster DI-46 ProSpot, to meet increased customer demand to produce full-color print runs. “Since installing Heidelberg’s QM DI press, we’ve been able to land a significant number of full-color jobs that we previously did not have the capability to complete,” said Daniel Mahowald, president of Cornerstone Copy Center. “The press allows us to now produce full-color jobs in-house that were previously outsourced. The expanded capabilities we now offer not only satisfy our clients, but will also serve to significantly increase our job production and ultimately improve our bottom line.” A flexible and extremely productive press, Heidelberg’s Quickmaster DI ProSpot features the new ProSpot technology and many other unique features enabling printers to succeed in today's competitive market. The ProSpot technology allows for the smallest spot size of any QM DI press, thereby improving the print quality. The speed of 10,000 sheets per hour as well as the maximum paper thickness of up to 16 pt combine to create a class-leading make-ready time of less than 10 minutes, which enables short delivery times and high productivity. Standard features on the press include the powerful MetaDimension RIP, a state of the art stream feeder, a mid-wave infrared dryer and a touch screen control console. The machine’s satellite design with quadruple diameter impression allows for four-color printing with a single-gripper closure at the fastest speed for this press class in the industry. Additional standards such as the smart spooling, the capability to handle up to 16pt stock or the impression cylinder cleaning device, make this press the optimal solution for printing short, four color runs in small format. “The ProSpot technology is just one way that shows how Heidelberg continues to seek innovative ways to enhance the methods printers use to impress their customers,” said Joerg Daehnhardt, director of product management, small-format sheetfed presses, Heidelberg USA. “The powerful Quickmaster DI family of presses helps printers to fulfill today’s need for shorter runs – fully integrated into the digital workflow. This allows printers like Cornerstone Copy Center to meet challenges head-on without compromising time, quality or profits.” “Using Heidelberg’s Saphira Caleidoplate, we eliminate several time-consuming steps and production variables from our process,” said Mahowald. “We have Heidelberg solutions from prepress to press to consumables, providing our customers with the ultimate resource in color management abilities. Heidelberg has provided the full proof and print solution delivering optimum performance.” Currently, Cornerstone Copy Center uses the new press to produce projects ranging from brochures to letterhead to packaged marketing materials. A newcomer to Heidelberg equipment, the family-owned and operated full-service commercial printer chose Heidelberg because of the company’s industry long-standing reputation for unmatched quality and service. “When we decided to increase our offerings, Heidelberg had the solutions we needed with the service and history accompanying them,” said Mahowald. “The company’s service technicians work quickly and efficiently, reducing our down time and increasing our productivity. Additionally, the training provided during installation was incredible, just proving once again that Heidelberg’s reputation is well-deserved. The support we receive from Heidelberg is stronger than any competitor could offer and in turn allows us to offer the highest quality product to our clients.” Established in 1981, Cornerstone Copy Center is a small, commercial, full-service printer specializing in work for corporate distributors, manufacturers and non-profit organizations.
