IFRA is a Success for Baldwin

Press release from the issuing company

Baldwin Technology Company, Inc. reports that response to its range of Newspaper Grade solutions at IFRA 2002 in Barcelona far exceeded expectations. The innovator of Newspaper Grade press accessory and control solutions experienced particularly strong interest in its IMPACT“ Global automatic blanket cleaning system and leading-edge spray dampening system - LithoSpray - incorporating its new internal cleaning system, Constant C. Baldwin received a high level of visitors from key countries around the world and is consequently in discussions with numerous prospects across Europe, Asia and the USA. "We’re extremely encouraged by the excellent reception of our products at the show, " says Peter Hultberg, marketing director Newspaper systems. "It indicates an increase in confidence within the newspaper industry and is a real boost, not only for Baldwin, but for the industry as a whole. "The quality of visitors to our booth indicated that companies really are considering their future seriously and looking at projects that can cut costs and improve productivity and profitability – the essence of Baldwin’s range of Newspaper Grade products." Baldwin designs press accessories and controls to improve economic and environmental efficiency of newspaper printing. In addition to LithoSpray and its Constant C internal cleaning system, and IMPACT“, other Baldwin solutions also presented at IFRA Barcelona included DailyLiner fountain solution unit, Ink Train Cleaning systems, Guide Roller Cleaning systems, Press Protection Systems, Drying Systems and Filter Systems. LithoSpray includes unique nozzle technology and an advanced control system to apply the minimum amount of water necessary to uniformly dampen the printing plate. Constant C has been developed to keep the nozzle free from blockage and maintain a uniform water spray. The new cleaning system, the first of its kind in the world, passes an air curtain over the front of the nozzle preventing clogging from ink and dust, and significantly reducing maintenance requirements of the dampening system. The elimination of nozzle clogging and the resulting even water distribution ensures consistently high print quality. Baldwin's IMPACT“ Global automatic blanket cleaning system reduces make-ready times and lowers consumption of washcloth rolls resulting in savings for the printer. The cleaning process, which uses PREPAC“ wash cloth rolls impregnated with an environmentally friendly cleaning agent, can take place with or without webs in the press, and does not create excess paper waste or waste solvents, making it the most environmentally sound blanket cleaning system available today. Baldwin’s solutions were demonstrated at IFRA in a new stand format. The company featured interactive product presentations with 3-D animations at various ‘kiosks’ around the stand. "This new stand design worked excellently," explains Mr Hultberg. "It was far more approachable and user-friendly for customers, allowing them to discuss solutions with Baldwin representatives on a more intimate, in-depth basis."
