Velocity Workflow Software Now Available for Heidelberg Digimaster 9110
CHICAGO, Illinois - October 7, 2002 - Electronics For Imaging (Nasdaq: EFII), the world leader in software and hardware imaging solutions for network printing, today announced a new partnership with Heidelberg USA to distribute EFI's Velocity(tm) workflow software for high speed production printing. The software is now available for Heidelberg's Digimaster 9110 black and white production engine, offering robust workflow and productivity advantages to Heidelberg's customers. The companies will also collaborate to develop a fully integrated Velocity solution for Heidelberg's new SmartBoard(tm) technology, bringing even greater functionality and production workflow control to 9110 environments.
"We are delighted to partner with an industry leader such as Heidelberg USA to bring the benefits of a powerful and scalable Velocity workflow to Digimaster customers. The combination of Velocity with Heidelberg's 9110 engine creates the ultimate, high-speed workflow solution for production facilities," said Fred Rosenzweig, president and COO, EFI.
Velocity's centralized job management and load balancing capabilities offer an easy to use production printing workflow solution that takes full advantage of the Digimaster's rapid image processing and fast reproduction speed. Velocity manages multiple devices as a group, intelligently routing jobs to the most efficient devices to maximize equipment utilization. The software also automatically splits pages between color and black and white engines and then merges the printed pages together in the Heidelberg Inserter tray, eliminating hand-collation. Additional new features allow easier handling of complex documents, allowing print shops to further streamline production and manpower costs.
"Heidelberg is committed to offering greater productivity and cost saving opportunities to its customers," said Bill Blair, Senior Vice President, Digital Solutions, Heidelberg USA. "We are proud to work with EFI today to extend the flexibility and ease of use of Velocity to our customers, and we look forward to continuing to work together to deliver additional innovative, digital printing workflow solutions in the future."
Today's partnership announcement is the beginning of EFI and Heidelberg's relationship to develop unique solutions for print professionals, leveraging both companies' expertise to bring highly productive, efficient workflow systems to market.
The Velocity "Digimaster 9110 Enabler" module is available today from Heidelberg USA. The module provides direct support for the 9110 engine via Heidelberg's new 5.0 Print Production Software.
