EFI Announces Latest Velocity Balance Workflow Software Release

Press release from the issuing company

New Automated Workflow Tools and Support for Non-Fiery Devices Bring Greater Productivity, Cost-Savings to Mixed Color/B&W Print Production Environments CHICAGO--Oct. 6, 2002-- Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in software and hardware imaging solutions for network printing, today announced a major upgrade to its innovative Velocity(TM) workflow software with new, even more powerful features. Velocity Balance(TM) maximizes print production capacity by managing multiple devices as a group. The new software now supports a wider range of print engines, including two of the most significant high-end digital black-and-white production printers, the Heidelberg Digimaster(TM) and the Xerox DocuTech. It also offers new tools to facilitate printing of complex documents, opening tremendous workflow advantages to high volume production facilities using color and black-and-white engines. "Velocity's open architecture and automatic job processing features make it the most productive, cost-effective workflow solution in the world," said Gaetan Spake, Director of Solutions Product Marketing, EFI. "Velocity streamlines the entire digital printing process, allowing print shops to benefit from increased productivity, faster turn-around, less manual labor, and greater return on their equipment investments." Users can save time and manpower costs with Velocity's enhanced workflow management and automatic job processing capabilities. This release also marks the first time Velocity Balance can drive print engines with non-Fiery controllers, allowing for an integrated workflow across Fiery and non-Fiery print engines. Key Features: * The tab insertion wizard makes printing of multi-section documents a breeze with easy tools for creating tab templates * The unique in-line insertion capability automatically merges split color and black-and-white pages back into the workflow, thus eliminating the need for time-consuming hand collation (Available for devices equipped with post fuser insertion tray) * The "Digimaster 9110 Enabler" module provides direct support for the Heidelberg Digimaster 9110, the Canon imageRUNNER 110, and the IBM Infoprint 2000 MS1 engines, via Heidelberg's Print Production Software running on the Sun Controller. The module will also drive the new release 5.0 Print Production Software. * The "DocuTech Enabler" module allows Velocity Balance users to connect to the Xerox DocuSP printer controller, the front-end to the Xerox DocuTech production printer "With increased functionality and expanded printer support," added Spake, "Velocity continues to make digital printing more powerful, productive and easier to manage for a broader range of production environments." The new version of Velocity Balance, including the new DocuTech Enabler and Digimaster 9110 Enabler modules, is available from all EFI distribution partners in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
