More Key3Media Plans: Consolidates Show Schedule for 2003

Press release from the issuing company

IT Event Marketing Leader Will Respond To Customer Needs By Focusing On National Strategy And Core Assets LOS ANGELES--Sept. 18, 2002-- Key3Media Group, Inc. (OTCBB:KMED) today announced a consolidated 2003 event schedule and the closing of a regional office in Needham, Massachusetts, completing the initial phase of its strategic business review. As previously announced Key3Media is undertaking a top to bottom strategic review in response to the sustained economic downturn-being experienced in the information technology, networking and trade show industries. The four major North American shows in 2003 will be: COMDEX Fall Las Vegas, November 16-21, 2003, COMDEX Canada and NetWorld+Interop, Toronto, September 16-18, 2003, NetWorld + Interop Las Vegas, April 27-May 2, 2003, and Seybold San Francisco, September 22-25, 2003. Under the consolidated schedule, Key3Media's emphasis will focus on national events that better serve the demands of the IT marketplace. The revised schedule eliminates several regionally focused events: COMDEX Chicago, COMDEX Vancouver, COMDEX Montreal, COMDEX/NetWorld+Interop Atlanta and Seybold Seminars New York in 2003. "Our flagship brands will continue to evolve and provide value to the marketplace. As the industry we represent changes we must change with it," said Fred Rosen, Chairman and CEO of Key3Media Group. "Our customers have told us that what would help them the most is for us to concentrate on a single show national strategy." The remaining Key3Media events scheduled for 2002 will be held as previously announced including COMDEX Fall, which runs November 16-22, 2002 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Key3Media's Needham, Massachusetts's office will continue operation until its closing on December 18, 2002. Current office functions being conducted in the Needham office will be relocated to Key3Media offices in Los Angeles and Foster City, California. These moves do not affect Key3Media shows outside North America, or other Key3Media vertical events such as JavaOne, Intel Developer Forum, BioSecurity 2002, Opticon, Next Generation Networks and VON. The company will also continue to develop new specialized, targeted events through its major brands and its Key3Studios division.
