Objective Advantage: JDF Implementation Tool Selected as Seybold Hot Pick

Press release from the issuing company

Houston, TX (September 5, 2002) -The JDF Development Platform (JDP), created by Houston-based software business developer Objective Advantage, Inc. to serve as a catalyst to the implementation of JDF-based workflows in the printing industry, has been selected by Seybold Report editors as a "Hot Pick" on display during Seybold San Francisco 2002, September 9-12. JDP will be demonstrated at the show at Objective Advantage's booth #1240 and will be available for use during the fourth quarter of 2002. "The Hot Picks recognize the most interesting and innovative new products and technologies at Seybold San Francisco," said Patricia Evans, managing editor, Seybold Publications. "They are the must-see products." The 16 Hot Picks products were selected from more than 100 submissions received this year. JDP is designed to help add Job Definition Format (JDF) integration capabilities to print industry software and equipment providers and facilitate industry-wide adoption of JDF. JDF is the standard advocated by CIP4, the international standards body for the print industry, to simplify print workflow information exchange between different applications and systems. "Software and equipment companies, as well as printing organizations, are beginning to realize that JDF is an opportunity to improve operations through automation and free interaction of information within print workflows," said Gareth O'Brien, vice president of Objective Advantage. "JDP is designed for software and equipment vendors as a tool that takes the massive JDF specification and makes it easy to create truly JDF compliant systems and equipment. JDF compliance will then improve integration between systems and ultimately leave systems and equipment choices in the hands of the print shop, or any organization using print industry equipment and systems." JDP grew from Objective Advantage's experience while working with TripleArc, a leading provider of integrated procurement solutions for the print industry. Objective Advantage assisted in analysis, design and development of the TripleArc Catalogue System and later the TripleArc Collaborative Workflow System. Both systems were among the first in the industry to utilize the JDF standard for information exchange. JDP is a comprehensive toolkit that will go beyond a JDF application programming interface (API) and enable developers to more rapidly integrate JDF, JMF and PrintTalk into web, client/server and embedded applications. The platform will be available on .NET and Java, the leading web-enabled platforms. Regardless of platform chosen, applications will benefit from the developer-years that have gone into JDP.
