Agfa IFRA Preview: Mix of Technology, Services Responds To User Demands

Mortsel, Belgium – 28 August 2002 – Agfa provided a sneak preview of its exhibit at IFRA, a newspaper technology conference in Barcelona, 14-17 October 2002. In addition to demonstrating its combined Agfa-Autologic portfolio, Agfa will show a plate-processing system that will reduce waste by as much as 40%. New chemicals will leave processors cleaner and make cleaning easier. Alongside its newest high-speed platesetter, the Polaris X, Agfa will demonstrate the 3850 CTP/240W running photopolymer plates. The Polaris X model being shown at the show uses violet-laser technology and cassette plate handling. The system will be shown running Lithostar plates. Agfa will also demonstrate its punch bending solutions. Workflow solutions will include the integration of the newest version of Autologic Plateroom Manager and Agfa IntelliNet workflow software. This will include complete PDF workflows from pagination to platesetting, integrated imposition, Web access for softproofs, status tracking and management control. Agfa boasts 575 Intellinet and Plateroom Manager installations worldwide, with 450 of these in Europe. Agfa will offer a testimonial exhibit of work done using its Sublima hybrid screening technology. Sublima combines the benefits of stochastic and Agfa Balanced Screening technologies. Samples of newspapers printed with IntelliTune image-processing software will be on display alongside the product demonstration. Proofing solutions will include Agfa’s newest Sherpa systems and AgfaJet materials. Added-value services for newspaper customers include Agfa’s Technical Assistance Centre, Consulting (IntelliTune, ColorTune, Screening, workflow), Service Programmes, Quality Improvement Programmes and Financing.
