Sprint and Kinkos Connect Top Authors With Audiences Across The Nation

Press release from the issuing company

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. and DALLAS, Aug. 13 -- Sending HarperBusiness' top-selling business authors on the road is no small feat: it requires time, money and coordinating four extremely demanding work schedules. So when the company evaluated the best way to launch its new "HarperBusiness Essentials" book series, it turned to Kinko's and Sprint to solve the time, money and productivity issues it faced. To commemorate its 10th anniversary as the world's premier business book publisher, HarperBusiness, an imprint of HarperCollins, decided to launch "HarperBusiness Essentials," a series of commemorative, updated paperback classics of "greatest hits." Rather than going on tour to promote the new series, four of HarperBusiness' top authors (James Collins, Jerry Porras, Geoffrey Moore and Noel Tichy) will discuss their groundbreaking works and today's hottest business topics during a special "Leadership in the 21st Century" forum. Created by HarperBusiness, Sprint and Kinko's, the event will be held live via videoconference on August 20 at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Authors will participate from select Kinko's locations around the country for a live forum and media Q&A. The roundtable discussion will be available for viewing live -- and for up to 30 days following the event -- on www.sprint.com/streamingmedia/meettheauthors.html , using Sprint Streaming(SM). "The efficiencies and money we saved using Kinko's videoconference locations and Sprint Videoconferencing(SM) and Sprint Streaming(SM) services is mind-boggling," said Marion Maneker, editorial director, HarperBusiness. "We typically spend a great deal of time and dollars taking our authors on tour because there is nothing like face-to-face interaction with these thought leaders. Instead, we're holding a one-hour videoconference, with participants interacting in more than 20 cities, broadcasting over the Web to the world, and ensuring the same experience of our traditional tours. Now that's smart business sense." "Sprint offers full, high-quality, end-to-end collaboration services for customers of all sizes and all needs," said Randy Ritter, vice president of product portfolio management, Sprint Business. "While HarperBusiness is taking advantage of our public room videoconferencing services available at select Kinko's locations, Sprint also provides audio, video, and data conferencing services for enterprise applications. Quite simply, we enable our customers to meet virtually face-to-face with participants around the world, without travel time, plane tickets, or hotel rooms." Sprint provides all the components of a high-quality videoconferencing solution and helps customers put them together, including quality video equipment, IP or ISDN transport, bridging services -- even consultation, design and ongoing management. Sprint Streaming enables customers to broadcast live or pre-recorded video content over the Web and archive it for convenient viewing anytime, worldwide. "Kinko's is pleased to host the 'Leadership in the 21st Century' forum at a time when insights about leadership principles and ethics are more relevant and timely than ever," said Dan Connors, senior vice president of corporate strategy, Kinko's. "Since Kinko's was founded more than 30 years ago, we've grown from a collection of corner copy shops to a network of over 1,100 digitally connected locations. When we host the conference, Kinko's will leverage that network -- much as we do today for many of our large commercial clients -- by using our videoconferencing capabilities to connect participants located around the country."
