Printcafe PrintFlow Wins GATF InterTech Technology Award

Press release from the issuing company

Dynamic Scheduling Module Honored for Innovative Excellence in Graphic Communications Industry PITTSBURGH, July 31-- Printcafe Software, Inc., the operating system for print, is to receive an InterTech Technology Award from the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) for its PrintFlow dynamic scheduling module. The InterTech Awards were established in 1978 to alert printers to significant trends and technologies predicted by GATF to have a major impact on production and profitability. In announcing the award, GATF provided comments from its judges, "An investment in this (Printcafe PrintFlow) scheduling system will increase production. Its concept is simple yet brilliant. We encourage Printcafe's innovative thinking in the area of scheduling and MIS in general." PrintFlow allows printing companies to schedule, synchronize and optimize jobs throughout the manufacturing operation by automatically identifying the optimal path for each job based on the equipment available, current workload and the delivery schedules for all jobs. PrintFlow also provides printers the ability to evaluate the potential impact of any number of changes to the printing schedule, such as adding new jobs, accelerating a delivery request, temporarily losing a work center, or adding a shift. "It's impressive technology," said Doug Ehmann, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for the Sheridan Group, a large publication printer headquartered in Hunt Valley, MD. "PrintFlow helps us to reduce our production costs by identifying bottlenecks, smoothing the workflow and maximizing utilization of equipment. PrintFlow, in conjunction with Printcafe's Auto- Count shop floor data collection module, provides us with up-to-date job status for even better on-time performance." The InterTech Technology Awards will be presented at the Industry Awards Reception and Dinner, Saturday, November 16, 2002 during the GATF/PIA Administrative Meetings at the Fairmont Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.
