WAM!NET Names Paul F. Mellon President, U.S. Commercial Business

EAGAN, Minn.--July 25, 2002--WAM!NET, a global provider of content distribution and management services, announced today that it has named Paul Mellon to the position of president and general manager, WAM!NET Inc. Mellon has 21 years of experience in business operations, program management and systems engineering at Lockheed Martin and General Electric. Most recently, Mellon served as chief of operations and company director for Asia Cellular Satellite (ACeS), a telecommunications company serving Asia. Mellon will be responsible for overseeing WAM!NET's U.S. commercial business including marketing, sales and operations. He will be focused on growing revenue, maintaining cost efficiencies and building long-term strategies for ongoing success and increased market share. "Given Paul's proven track record in successfully directing complex projects and global business operations, combined with his expertise in telecommunications and network engineering, I am confident he is the right person to lead our commercial organization," said Michael Williams, chief executive officer, WAM!NET Inc. At Lockheed Martin Telecommunications and ACeS, Mellon led the international team responsible for the design, development, deployment and operations of the ACeS telecom network. Spanning 11 million square miles and 26 countries throughout Asia, the $800M satellite-based communications system provides digital voice, facsimile and data transmission via handheld, dual-mode mobile phones and fixed user terminals. Previously, he led a line of business providing ground-based communication, video and data systems. He also managed several projects for remote sensing, strategic defense and high-speed data processing systems. Mellon holds a Master of Science and Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania (1984), and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from St. Joseph's University (Philadelphia, 1980). He will report directly to Michael Williams, CEO, WAM!NET Inc.
