New England Business Service Appoints President & Chief Operating Officer

GROTON, Mass.-July 23, 2002--New England Business Service, Inc. today announced the formation of the Office of the Chairman and the election of Richard T. Riley as President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Robert J. Murray, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, will be joined in the Office of the Chairman by Mr. Riley and Daniel M. Junius, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Riley joined New England Business Service, Inc. in 1997 with the purchase of Rapidforms where he was President. At the time of the acquisition, he was elected a Senior Vice President of New England Business Service, Inc. In September 2000, Mr. Riley was appointed President, Integrated Marketing Services. In July 2001, he was appointed President of NEBS Direct Marketing with responsibility for the Company's largest business. Mr. Murray commented, "This appointment places day-to-day responsibility in the hands of a seasoned direct marketing executive and provides me with the opportunity to concentrate on the future growth and strategic direction of the Company." Mr. Riley, 46, is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and is a CPA. He is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and a director of Micro-Coax, Inc.
