Toshiba Delivers Performance in New Line of High-Volume Digital Copiers

IRVINE, Calif., (July 18, 2002) – Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS) today announced the launch of its new line of high-volume black and white digital copiers, the e-STUDIO550, 650 and 810. Expanding Toshiba’s line of high-volume imaging systems, the copiers feature a clean-sheet design that not only incorporates innovative technology, but delivers increased productivity and reliability. The e-STUDIO550, 650 and 810 offer a number of productivity-enhancing features, including facedown output, concurrent scan and print capabilities, standard trayless duplexing and an all-new 100-sheet Reversing Automatic Document Feeder (RADF) with stationary scanner. In addition, these systems support printing and copying on tab paper. "We are excited to further expand our e-STUDIO brand and high-volume product line with the new e-STUDIO550, 650 and 810," said Rick Taylor, senior vice president, Sales, Marketing and Business Operations, TABS. "Performance is, and continues to be, the driving force behind our product offerings in the digital imaging marketplace and we’re pleased to continue this with the launch of these new copiers." The e-STUDIO550, 650 and 810 have a number of advanced finishing options, including an all-new finisher which holds 4,000 sheets among the two output trays, a 50-sheet three-position stapler and electronic sorting, all delivering unlimited set production. Additional features include an optional post inserter for adding color pages to finished documents and the ever-popular saddle stitch finisher, which enables production of professional looking booklets. Each of the three models print and copy at 55, 65 and 81 pages-per-minute with monthly copy volumes at 400,000; 460,000; and 500,000 impressions respectively. All three copiers can accommodate 3,600 sheets of standard paper in a compact design, enabling more placement opportunities and lower product acquisition cost. Additionally, an optional front-loading 4,000-sheet large capacity feeder increases the total maximum paper capacity to 7,600 sheets and 110-pound index paper is supported through all paper sources. Outstanding Image Quality Among the advanced features of the e-STUDIO line is the outstanding image quality all three products possess. With 2,400 x 600 dpi resolution, the e-STUDIO550, 650 and 810 deliver high quality graphic detail. The two-beam laser design and patented serial filter sharpen document text and line-art while the Image Stabilization Technology reproduces halftones and grayscales with superior quality and detail. Network Connectivity The first in a series of network connectivity options available for the new e-STUDIO550, 650 and 810 is a powerful and low-cost controller. All three copiers have the ability to upgrade print capabilities with Electronic For Imaging’s (EFI) Fiery“ GA-1140 embedded printer board. This embedded controller features an Intel“ Pentium“ III processor which supports Novell, Windows NT, MacIntosh, Unix and Linux Operating Systems. Additional network features soon available for the e-STUDIO550, 650 and 810 include a disk upgrade (GE-1060) to the GA-1140 providing Adobe PostScript‘ 3, Fiery“ Network Scanning and FreeForm Software for variable data printing. In addition, you can add optional DocBuilder‘ Pro Impostition software and Velocity‘ Cluster Printing software. The second value-added solution for the three copiers is the feature-rich GL-1020 network print and scan controller, designed by Toshiba’s own Document Solutions Engineering Division. This embedded controller incorporates a powerful processor with advanced software to easily handle high-volume print jobs and provides the ability to scan-to-file, scan-to-email, scan-to-TWAIN and I-FAX capabilities. Optional 802.11b wireless printing is available. Both the GE-1060 and GL-1020 are scheduled to be available in September 2002. The e-STUDIO550, 650 and 810 boast energy efficient technology resulting in a shortened warm-up time of the engine to approximately 160 seconds. Additionally, a large front panel and Quick Tab feature address Section 508. The e-STUDIO550, 650 and 810 are available through Toshiba’s nationwide network of dealers with a suggested MSRP of $18,899, $24,999 and $33,499 respectively.
