SmartLab launches StampaTech, a revolutionary new intelligent packing innovation

Press release from the issuing company

Italian printing organisation StampaSud S.p.a. has launched a revolutionary new intelligent packaging innovation through SmartLab www.smartlabitalia.com , the labelling division of their packaging operation www.pacoitalia.com.

The innovation is called StampaTech, and it allows consumers and users to access a virtually unlimited amount of information ranging from marketing materials to product origins and freshness indications all triggered from the packaging printing.

Speaking about the revolutionary new product innovation, StampaSud Commercial and R&D Director, Tony Calo, stated, “We wanted something that allowed digital systems to work at 360° on a platform of print that is in reality the basis for most communication. There was currently nothing in the market that had the ability to do this, so we built one ourselves. Now, thanks to our innovative technology, Branders, Manufacturers and Printers and not least end users and consumers now have a brand new dimension on packaging.”

The system can be linked to virtually any marketing application using print but not only. Products can be monitored and tracked and traced from origins right up to the kitchen table or for whichever use needed.

With this system, products of all types from foodstuffs and beverages to cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, to industrial products and fashion goods can be properly traced and monitored regarding quality and authenticity. The system allows manufacturers to ascertain the whereabouts of products at a click, can supply further technical information,  it can reveal counterfeiting, be used for product recalls, supply analytics and instil client trust as never before, regarding quality and many other aspects. The SmartLab innovation is greener, less expensive and involves no secondary elaboration compared to RFID or security tagging solutions, and is more interactive and enlivened than NFC or QR codes but can be incorporated with these technologies if needed.

Marketing functions allow monitoring of client interest and satisfaction as well as up sell and cross sell, recommendations and social sharing of product information and full analytical and cloud services.

The system has been devised with packaging specifically in mind and the introductory package with marketing and track and trace facilities will be free to manufacturing and branding organisations who register before 2014.

StampaSud is a print and media company with a history dating back nearly 75 years, and has its headquarters based near Taranto in Italy. It employs 80 staff and has a turnover in region of EUR8m.
