Allied’s Print One Plant One™ Program Commits to Planting 55 Million Native Plants in 2020

Ferndale, Mich. – Allied Printing Company’s Print One Plant One™ program takes aim at offsetting their carbon footprint and repairing damaged environments. Partnering with Reduce Reuse Grow Inc., Allied is committed to planting 55 million plants through native seed and seedlings in 2020 with this innovative sustainability program tied to print and direct mail.

“For every print piece produced or mailed, Allied will plant a native plant,” says Alex Henige, CEO of Reduce Reuse Grow Inc. “By maximizing Allied’s annual volume, we are able to provide an economy of scale and collaborate with professional restoration groups to determine North American sites and restore them with plantings that deliver real ecological benefits.”

Trees are the most efficient way of capturing carbon on the planet. They absorb carbon dioxide, the greenhouse gas that traps heat in the environment, and turn it into energy. That energy in turn creates new growth which locks away carbon. With the Print One Plant One Program, Allied’s commitment to planting 55 million plants offers a simple and accessible solution that supports their sustainability goals.

“The Print One Plant One™ program showcases how with simple measures, we can be part of the solution,” says Elly Chichester, Chief Marketing Officer at Allied. “Replanting helps offset the carbon footprint of a mailing project and contributes toward the restoration of hundreds of damaged environments each year. The program benefits our participating customers by directly giving back to their communities through regional landscape restoration and enhancement.”

Through the partnership with Reduce Reuse Grow Inc., the plants are native to the restoration sites within a specified region. Plant species lists are all professionally sourced and managed in order to ensure proper restoration of each site. Plantings take place from Spring to Fall to ensure successful plant germination and establishment rates. Allied is the first and only company in direct mail and print to drive this innovative sustainability program to market.
