Documentum Brings New Content Intelligence Services Offering

Press release from the issuing company

Highly Scalable Solution Organizes and Categorizes Unstructured Enterprise Content, Promotes Content Reuse Across Multiple Initiatives PLEASANTON, Calif., April 29- Documentum, the leading provider of enterprise content management (ECM), today announced the availability of Documentum Content Intelligence Services (CIS). CIS, an extension to the Documentum platform, automates and controls the enrichment and organization of enterprise content. Documentum CIS significantly streamlines the organization, indexing and linking of content residing in multiple disparate systems throughout an enterprise enabling fast, sophisticated searches, easy navigation and personalization of content. Documentum is the first and only vendor to offer a full spectrum of content intelligence features in one integrated platform -- auto-tagging, auto-categorization, auto-linking and use of pre-built or custom taxonomies. Until now, organizations seeking comprehensive content intelligence capabilities were forced to piece together products from multiple vendors, resulting in costly integrations, complex deployments, inconsistent support and inadequate functionality. With this new CIS offering, Documentum provides a complete, cost-effective solution, offering more functionality and faster deployment than the multi-vendor solutions currently available. "At Bowne Enterprise Solutions we struggle with how to tag and organize our content and our customers' content. Now Documentum Content Intelligence Services provides us with a solution. Content Intelligence Services will allow us to attribute individual components of documents for dynamic assembly and reuse. This is an impressive solution for both Bowne and our customers," said Thom Schiavone, VP of Documents on Demand for Bowne, the world's largest financial printer. Until recently, most businesses have organized and stored content through manual processes, which are inconsistent, incomplete and error-prone. Because content is not uniformly tagged, linked with other related content or indexed, employees are unable to locate business-critical information and often end up recreating it. Customers and partners searching for information on external Web sites often find that text and keyword searches return few relevant results, and they must often page through extraneous data to find what they need. Documentum CIS maximizes "return on content" by enhancing productivity and reducing costs through increased content reuse and improved business processes, while increasing end user satisfaction through faster, richer, and more relevant interactions. "Our research reveals that employees spend up to 40% of their time searching for information. Documentum CIS can immediately improve internal productivity by ensuring that content is accurately tagged and classified, and is therefore easy to find. This, in turn, maximizes the ability to share and reuse that content, increasing the value of a company's content assets," said Whitney Tidmarsh, Documentum's vice president of product marketing. "For customers and partners, there's nothing more frustrating than a Web site, portal or file system that doesn't quickly deliver the information they are looking for. Documentum CIS can help companies quickly deliver the exact content that a site visitor is looking for, enhancing customer service, satisfaction and loyalty."
