GMG to Participate in the COLOR20 Conference as a Gold Sponsor and to Offer a Presentation About a Way to Digitize Ink Drawdowns

Press release from the issuing company

Hingham, Mass. – GMG, the leading developer of high-end color management solutions, will be a Gold Sponsor at the upcoming COLOR20 Conference, January 11-14, in San Diego, CA. COLOR20 offers insights, practices, and answers to all color questions, providing strategies, tactics, and technology about finding success in color.

As part of the program, GMG is participating in a 20-minute color tools session, planned to offer a view to the latest color technologies and techniques. On the main stage on Sunday, January 12 at 2:20pm, Eric Dalton (Director of Sales, West Region, GMG Americas) and Birgit Plautz (Manager Technical Services, GMG Americas), will talk about GMG ColorCard, a new tool for digitizing ink drawdowns and accelerating production. There are times that print buyers are very concerned about how a color will be reproduced, either because it is a difficult ink or because it is printed on an unusual substrate. GMG ColorCard produces digital ink drawdowns—accurate color samples on specific substrates, but shown digitally, rather than a traditional process. While still just an innovation project, results from the limited pre-release program suggest that it will likely revolutionize ink kitchens worldwide. It will allow users to create drawdowns in less than three minutes, saving up to 90% of the time that is currently required for conventional production. Reliable and color accurate results that can be reproduced with one click account for more efficiency in any print approval process and take color communication to a new level.

GMG will also be providing an overview of its complete product line of color management solutions and new color technologies that are likely to have an impact in the near future. “COLOR20 is attended by anyone—from brand owners, designers and photographers, to commercial, label/packaging and wide format printers interested in color matching colors no matter the process. GMG solutions are available for everyone,” explains Paulo Monteiro, VP Sales, GMG Americas.“

At their sponsor table, GMG will offer information about:

  • GMG ColorServer provides a centralized system that ensures consistent reliable color at the highest quality standards. Large format print providers need all their digital presses to output consistent color—on all substrates.
  • GMG OpenColor software, a past recipient of PIA InterTech Technology and FTA Technical Innovation awards, provides proofing technology that precisely predicts the color appearance of printed inks, particularly ‘overprints’—inks printed on top of each other without requiring extensive fingerprinting.
  • GMG ColorProof has been the preferred solution for efficient and safe contract proofing. It offers uncompromising color fidelity and is compliant with globally accepted printing standards.
  • GMG ColorProof GO for remote proofing delivers consistent, reliable print results, independent of location. All proofing systems and printers can be monitored and managed at any time and any place.

“GMG continues to work on new ways to assure accurate color,” adds Monteiro. “We look forward to discussing how to make color management accurate and easy at COLOR20.”
