Fujifilm announces the Launch of Valiano Rampage 9.0 at IPEX 2002

Press release from the issuing company

Stand 510, Hall 5, IPEX, 9-17 April 2002 – Fuji Photo Film today announces that at IPEX 2002 it will be launching version 9.0 of its Valiano Rampage RIP System – a single page workflow handling both EPS and PDF files with the benefit of Rip Once Output Many (ROOM) and a ‘Pure PDF’ workflow where the internal file format is the normalised PDF file. The system features automatic in-RIP trapping, integrated pre-flight, built-in OPI, 'RIP-once, plot-many' digital proofing, job management, post-RIP imposition, and other features that reduce waste, streamline operation, and ensure maximum productivity. An open and scaleable system, Valiano Rampage has direct interfaces to approximately 100 imagesetters, platesetters and halftone proofing systems. New features in version 9.0 of the software include a Valiano Rampage Web Viewer option. The Web Viewer allows remote soft proofing and hard copy of ripped and trapped data. Clients can view their ripped jobs at full output resolution for approval or mark up for correction. Valiano Rampage 9.0 offers further integration of PDF tools, enabling the creation/pre-flight and automatic editing of PDF files, in preparation for the Valiano Rampage workflow. Ripped data can be exported as hi-res PDF (a ‘locked’ bitmap file), or vector based PDF (the normalised PDF file plus the traps). The system also offers 'on the fly' screening on output, which ensures screening and calibration are not applied until the very last minute, allowing late changes. From the Mac, the user can preview and edit traps, resolve preflight issues, softproof RIPped files, manage the job queue, and control the production cycle. This major release at IPEX follows the intermediate release of Valiano Rampage version 8.4, available in January 2002. Version 8.4 introduces the following new features – PDF export - Ripped data can be exported as hires PDF (a ‘locked’ bitmap file). This smaller file size can be sent to most RIPs - Celebrant, Harlequin, Apogee and Prinergy. Files can also be exported in a selection of formats including a 1 bit screened TIFF, DCS 2.0, TIFF-IT files. Improved ICC support - Users have greater control over colour management and proof quality on plotters and halftone proofers such as Fujifilm's FinalProof. A site license gives ICC support for proofing files. If ICC is enabled on a system, extra 'bump colours' such as Light Cyan and Light Magenta are used, dramatically improving the proof. Additionally, there have been further developments in proofing quality with the introduction of new screening technology for RamProof Direct proofing to HP and Epson plotters. With ICC, the range of proofing options has been extended to encompass: o Single page proofing o Plotter Imposition proofing o Double-sided plotter imposition proofing o Half tone proofers Nesting - Support for transparent FPOs allows nesting of labels or packaging work during imposition. The standard configuration of the system includes: CIP3 support; five screen sets; unlimited Mac clients; automatic trapping and Trapping Editor; Versioning (MultiBurn of inks to give versioning control).
