JFX200-2513 EX UV-LED flatbed printer and Mimaki 3DUJ-553 full-color 3D printer continue legacy of honored products

Suwanee, Ga. – Mimaki USA, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and cutters, was honored with the prestigious SGIA Product of the Year Award in two categories. The Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX UV-LED flatbed printer won in the UV/Latex Flatbed (under $100,000) category, and the Mimaki 3DUJ-553 full color 3D printer won in the 3D Printer category. The awards were announced by the Specialty Graphic and Imaging Association (SGIA) ahead of its annual PRINTING United show scheduled for October 23-25 in Dallas.

Output devices are judged based on reports generated by the Sonoco Institute at Clemson University. “This is the only competition I know of that reports on the percentage of Adobe RGB a printer can hit,” said Ray Weiss, director of digital print programs at SGIA. “We’ll display the reports alongside the entries in the Awards Gallery at PRINTING United in October.”

Built upon the proven technology of Mimaki’s industry-leading flatbed printer, the JFX200-2513 EX model offers expanded capabilities with greater productivity and functionality. New features include a draft mode that enables a maximum print speed of up to 12 (4-foot by 8-foot) boards per hour, and three staggered printheads that enable simultaneous printing without sacrificing speed, even when using white and clear inks. This model offers faster mechanical motors and a vacuum foot pedal, giving the user the ability to load or unload various substrates quickly and efficiently. Key features of the 3DUJ-553 full-color 3D printer

The 3DUJ-553 printer is a fully ICC-compliant, color managed device that can produce more than 10 million color combinations and achieve 90% of SWOP colors. The ability to create highly color-accurate objects and prototypes that can be reproduced without the need for manual hand coloring reduces finishing and prototyping times drastically. The 3DUJ-553 printer is also able to utilize clear inks that can be jetted independently or combined with colored ink to create translucent objects. The Mimaki water-soluble support material does not require lye or other harsh chemicals making it easy to remove with water, so that end users can create models and products with fine details without affecting the final design.
