Oki Data C7200n Ranked No. 1 in PC World Top 10 Color Printer List

Press release from the issuing company

Both C7200n and C9200n Hold Rankings Despite New Competition MOUNT LAUREL, N.J.--April 2, 2002--For the second time, PC World Magazine has ranked the OKI C7200n as the number one, "Best Buy" printer in its Top 10 color printer list. The C7200n retains the top spot for April 2002, even after the addition of three new printers to the list. The OKI C9200n also maintains its position, and is still the highest ranked tabloid extra size printer. PC World attributed the printers' rankings to quality and speed. All OKI C-Series printers feature Oki Data's Single Pass Color Digital Technology, which applies colors in one pass with four in-line digital LED print heads and image drums. This technology increases print speed dramatically. PC World suggests how the printers' speed and print quality present a strong argument for businesses to replace monochrome-only printers in order to benefit from 21-ppm color without sacrificing 26-ppm (C9200n) monochrome performance. The OKI C7200n is "Another new color laser (that) prints fast enough to replace its monochrome brethren," PC World stated. The editors continue to praise the C7200n for its speed, stating, "The faster text speed is more than an incremental improvement: It makes opting for a color model feasible in busy offices that can't afford to let work back up inside a poky printer." The magazine also notes speed as a factor with the OKI C9200n, stating, "The (OKI) C9200n churns out ordinary letter-sized pages of text... faster than any other color printer we've tested and challenging the speed of monochrome office lasers." "We couldn't be more pleased to see the C7200n retain the number one position on PC World's Top 10 list," said Keith Shaw, director of marketing, Oki Data. "Once again, having two OKI C-Series printers acknowledged by PC World, one receiving top honors, the other the highest ranked tabloid extra, just furthers our message that these printers continue set the benchmark in durable, reliable color printing and provide a viable option for any office that wants to upgrade to color." Oki Data's high-speed color printers enable businesses to reduce costs dramatically and use color printing as a strategic tool by bringing it in-house. Color printing can help improve the effectiveness of communication and establish a professional business image. The C7200n and C9200n provide businesses with fast, affordable printing solutions in both color (7200n - 12 ppm; 9200n - 21ppm) and monochrome (7200n - 20 ppm; 9200n - 26 ppm). The total cost of ownership of OKI C-Series color printers over a three-year period is 25 to 30 percent lower than competitors(1), making it even more affordable than outside printing services. Both printers offer 1200 x 600 dpi, ample memory (64MB - C7200n; 128MB - C9200n) and a standard network interface card. The C9200n comes with a standard 5GB hard disk drive that provides storage for secure printing and proof printing. They both also feature optional two-sided printing and 550-sheet second and third paper trays. PC World assigns overall rating for color printers based on print quality (25%), price (25%), features (15%), ease of use (15%), speed (10%), and service and support (10%). The data is based on tests designed and conducted by the PC World Test Center.
