Free Software for web-based Customized Print debuts at IPEX

Press release from the issuing company

April 1, 2002 -- Web4Print, a new publishing tool for designing and generating a wide variety of customisable document templates using free software and the internet, is to be launched at IPEX 2002 on 9th April. The free software is available on CD from the stand or can be downloaded from www.web4print.com and works as a 'Pay As You Use' service over the web for print companies and their customers. Web4Print allows the production of on-demand, high quality, variable content documents using free software, the secure Web4Print web server and a web browser. Documents of up to eight pages, of any size, with variable content (text, images, colours and typeface) and all with spot/full colour can be created. Clients will key in their own variable data into their web browser and be able to preview/proof it in PDF-format before ordering printed material. Web4Print will output print-ready documents as PostScript, PDF, TIFF or EPS files. According to Bill McConnell, Managing Director of Web4Print: "Web4Print is 'Pay As You Use' and gives a significant element of control to the users of the service. There is no investment in hardware or software needed for either the print company or their clients. You can produce brochures, flyers, posters, advertising, price lists, menus, business cards, corporate stationery and much, much more, all with customised content. Web4Print will cut print production costs, save time and reduce errors." He continues: "Web4Print not only creates the document, but also produces a HTML page that users/clients will access over the web to proof or change their documents. The final print-ready documents can be output (as PostScript, PDF, TIFF or EPS files) for production by a desktop printer; a print company; for inclusion in other documents or for distribution electronically. All that is charged for are the finished print-ready pages generated by the Web4Print server. Web4Print also allows print companies to set up and monitor their clients' accounts and password controls." Web4Print runs on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP.
