Xerox to Conduct Live Surveys at IPEX and On Demand

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, March 29, 2002 - Xerox today announced that it will continue its tradition of conducting on-site surveys at two upcoming print industry events, the IPEX conference in Birmingham, UK and On Demand in New York City. Survey questions will be tailored for the printing and publishing markets generating insights on how the industry is managing the transition to digital print. "Printers are currently challenged by not only the economic climate, but by technology substitution and the view that print is a commodity. Printers that I speak to are reinventing their businesses based on digital printing and variable information opportunities, " said Elaine Wilde, senior vice president, Worldwide Graphic Arts Industry Business, Xerox Corporation. "I'm interested to see if the survey will capture this information, and if results will vary between continents -- if so, what are those key differences." Students from several universities that have exceptional graphic arts programs will administer the surveys. Participants from the London College of Printing, City University of New York and the Rochester Institute of Technology will attend either IPEX or On Demand and survey show attendees about the future of digital printing, while learning about important trends and experiencing the latest print technology first hand. Xerox has conducted similar surveys at past events, including Print 01 and On Demand 2001. Past survey questions covered topics such as variable printing, digital and offset printing, new technologies, and the Internet. Survey takers armed with handheld devices will question show attendees and then tally the results at the end of each day. Survey results will be publicized April 9-11 at IPEX and April 24 and 25 at On Demand.
