Wisconsin book printer takes first place in total donations to Portage County Literacy Council’s annual Words & Friends for Literacy

Stevens Point, Wis. – Worzalla, an employee-owned printing company specializing in high-quality custom products and books, was one of the sponsors of this year’s Portage County Literacy Council’s annual Words & Friends for Literacy event as they have for many years previously. The Portage County Literacy Council is the only community-based literacy program for adults in Portage County, and their annual event helps raise awareness and funds for adult literacy in the area.

At Words & Friends for Literacy, teams of up to four players play collective Scrabble. During three timed rounds, teams work together to play as many words as possible on their Scrabble board. Worzalla’s team, known as The Jefferson Street Girls and comprised of Worzalla employees Sheila Jasenovsky, Cathy Davis, Shasta Grosbier, and Holly Fletcher, took ninth place overall out of more than thirty participating teams. Although they took first place in bringing in the most donations to the event, having collected $404.00 in pledges from friends and family as well as fellow Worzalla employees.

“Our mission is to deliver quality books to the world and spread the joy of reading,” said Jim Fetherston, President and CEO of Worzalla. “It’s never too late to learn how to read or improve your literacy, which is why we have been continuous supporters of the Portage County Literacy Council. We are proud of our employees for taking on this cause and showing their support for their community members.”

Worzalla has an extended history of supporting literacy for all ages in Wisconsin, from supporting programs like the Portage County Literacy Center to donating books to local elementary schools.
