Clifton, NJ - July 15, 2002 - Sandy Alexander, Inc., the country’s largest independent high-quality commercial printing company, announced today that it has received ISO 14001 registration in addition to its previously attained ISO 9002 certification. Sandy Alexander is one of the only commercial printing companies in the U.S. to have attained both ISO certifications. According to Roy Grossman, President, "When we became the first high-end commercial printing organization to achieve ISO 9002 certification in 1997, we realized that we were embarking on an on-going process that would help us improve the way in which we operate our business. Adding ISO 14001 is a very important step in that process. Our environmental management system helps us to focus our efforts to reduce waste generation and prevent pollution, resulting in improved efficiency, a healthier bottom line, and most importantly, a healthier environment." ISO 14001 is the most highly regarded and widely adopted environmental management system in the world today. Registration to the international standard indicates that an organization's commitment to environmental responsibility is among its highest priorities. Organizations seeking ISO 14001 certification must demonstrate that an environmental management system has been developed, it has been implemented throughout the organization, and it is effective in achieving the desired results. Grossman adds, "In addition to looking within our operation, we have spent the past several years addressing the needs of the community, and have included this as a critical requirement in our environmental policy. In fact, one of the key criteria for addressing environmental issues is to evaluate the impact on our local neighborhood." BVQI of Jamestown, New York is Sandy Alexander’s registrar.
