The Ghent Workgroup Is Delighted to Welcome Two New Members – RRD and the University Of Novi Sad

Press release from the issuing company

Ghent, Belgium – Ghent Workgroup – an international organization that brings industry experts from around the world together to build specifications and best practices for publishing, print, and packaging workflows – is attracting new members as it continues to work towards global outreach and standardization.

RRD
RRD is a leading global provider of multichannel business communications services and marketing solutions. With more than 50,000 clients and 39,500 employees across 34 countries, RRD offers the industry’s most comprehensive offering of solutions designed to help companies — from Main Street to Wall Street — optimize customer engagement and streamline business operations across the complete customer journey. RRD offers a comprehensive portfolio of capabilities, experience and scale that enables organizations around the world to create, manage, deliver, and optimize their marketing and business communications strategies.

Business Analyst at RRD, Doug Fetterman says, "After attending a GWG meeting in Washington DC, it became apparent that this was an organization our company could benefit from. We also believe we have knowledge we could share with the GWG that could further their mission to develop industry standards. RRD is always focused on developing and maintaining high standards across all of its platforms and workflows. We have used the GWG as a resource for a number of years to aid us in our workflow solutions. Our PDF automation — a key part of our reliability and predictability — is dependent on the standards driven by the GWG. Joining the GWG is a great way for us to access the full range of their tremendous knowledge base, and provides RRD the opportunity to be a contributor to the industry in a new way."

University of Novi Sad
Graphic Engineering and Design is one of the youngest departments at Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad in the Republic of Serbia. It was founded in 1999 as a new educational profile, gaining remarkable educational results and causing great interest in its study programs. Through practical work, their students are trained to use modern devices and equipment, and to implement the latest standards. This gives them an adequate and solid base for working more efficiently and independently in the graphic industry.

“I came across the Ghent Workgroup via the internet when I was doing some research about minor problems that we had on some projects,” states Živko Pavlovi?, Associate Professor at University of Novi Sad. “We have joined the GWG to be at the source of information and the development of PDF, and share this knowledge with the students and industry. The importance of GWG is very high, especially now that more and more designers and students work over the internet. This means that every file should be digitally revised and preflighted before public use. We would like to make the work of GWG more popular among students and the printing industry. The importance is very high as we have entered the new industrial revolution 4.0, so the future is digital for sure, and the GWG has a significant role in this.”

Ghent Workgroup provides accurate, consistent and efficient design and production services. This is enabled through the collaboration of many individuals, companies and organizations. We are excited to add RRD and the University of Novi Sad to our team, and look forward to their participation in the further development of the new print and packaging specifications that will carry these industries through future changes, challenges and opportunities.”
