Brooks Litho Targets One-to-One Market with HP Indigo Press 3000

Press release from the issuing company

New York Area Printer Pioneers Digital Printing Technology for the Second Time with Focus on Variable Data August 28, 2002 -- HP today announced that Brooks Litho & Digital Group, a Long Island, NY printer which installed the region’s first Indigo color press in 1995, became a digital printing pioneer for the second time with the installation of an HP Indigo Press 3000 for variable data printing. "Brooks Litho has consistently been in the forefront of the digital on-demand printing revolution, starting with the Indigo E-Print 1000 and continuing with our flagship digital color press, the HP Indigo Press 3000," said Rick Mangold, general manager, HP Indigo North America. "This has not only allowed Brooks to become a local market leader in on-demand variable data printing, but also given them a definite competitive edge." "One to one marketing is the killer application today, and we’re pushing it very strongly," said Brooks Litho president David Brooks, citing the speed and color quality of the HP Indigo Press 3000 as an important advantage for producing variable data documents of all types. "With the HP Indigo Press 3000, whole pages – the whole job – can be variable data. We think this increased capacity will really make a difference. Another advantage is the ability to run PMS colors. That’s a big, big plus." Founded in 1988, today the family-run concern operates a 100% filmless all-digital workflow, even on the conventional printing side. With a roster of high-end customers, including multi-national corporations, publishers and advertising firms, Brooks Litho specializes in providing fast-turnarounds on a wide range of printing jobs, from business cards to annual reports. The company’s ability to provide clients with highly targeted direct mail pieces has been greatly enhanced by the addition of the HP Indigo Press 3000, David Brooks added. "The types of jobs you sell on it are ongoing programs, not just one job, so it’s all value-added. We already have marketing campaigns in place," he said. "The facts are it’s the first one out here, just as we were the first on Long Island to embrace digital printing in 1995. We’re just continuing to forge ahead technology-wise, way ahead of our competitors." Designed for high-volume, high-quality commercial printing, the HP Indigo Press 3000 prints up to seven colors, including IndiChrome wide-gamut and specialty colors, at 800x800 dpi resolution and 180lpi screen ruling. It has a throughput of up to 4,000 4-color 8.5" x 11"/A4 pages per hour (two-up) or 16,000 single-color pages per hour (272 per minute).
