GAMIS September Meeting Set for September 23-24, 2002

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA (July 29, 2002) - The Graphic Arts Marketing Information Service (GAMIS), a special industry group of the Printing Industries of America, will host its next Quarterly Meeting at the Westin Providence Hotel in Providence, RI, September 23-24, 2002. Program highlights include: - Future Requirements and Needs for Service and Support in the Graphic Communications Industry - Cathy Brewer, Executive VP, Hahn Consulting, Inc. Cathy will present findings from a recent study commissioned by NPES on this topic. Manufacturers and suppliers can no longer just focus on traditional ‘break/fix’ services. - Competition in the Commercial Printing Industry - Dr. Joseph Webb, Principal, Strategies for Management Dr. Joe will review how the industry has changed since the early 1990s and the essential aspects of competition. He’ll review issues such as over-capacity, pricing and competition from new media. - Study Presentation: Color Digital Wide Format Printing - Bill Lamparter, PrintCom Consulting (for GAMIS members only) Bill will review findings from this new research completed exclusively for GAMIS. - Tour of Providence Journal newspaper printing plant. This New England institution was founded in 1820 and was the first American metropolitan newspaper to print with the flexographic process. We’ll be touring their production facilities. In addition to the presentations, GAMIS members will participate in meetings where they will scope out future research studies to be completed by GAMIS.
