A Streetcar Named Design: Local FASTSIGNS® Assists in KC Streetcar Authority Project

Press release from the issuing company

Kansas City, Mo. – FASTSIGNS® of Westport joined in city-wide efforts this week to produce a fully-branded streetcar for the “Rolling with the Chiefs” event ride today. In celebration of the playoffs and the newly-designed streetcar, the Kansas City Streetcar and the KC Chiefs will host a downtown ride with Radio 810 broadcasting live on the train beginning at 3 p.m. The event will also include a one-loop ride around downtown at 5 p.m. with Chief reps, cheerleaders, ambassadors, Chiefs Rumble and KC Wolf.

Partnering with KC Streetcar Authority and the KC Chiefs, FASTSIGNS produced and installed graphics for the streetcar that rolled out at 6 a.m. this morning. This specially-branded streetcar highlights all things KC Chiefs: logos, team colors and larger than life, 8-foot tall players.

The project was extensive and took three days to print. The player images were printed separately and put on top of the artwork in a special die cut process. Moving from a 2D drawing to creating lifesize graphics that match the streetcar physical dimensions and the artwork required attention to detail by the FASTSIGNS team. The final installation performed by a core team at FASTSIGNS of Westport that has worked together over 20 years occurred on Thursday, January 10, and took 16 hours to complete.

“We’ve really done some creative projects for the KC Streetcar Authority that are outside of the box. Who would have thought that I would wrap a streetcar for the Chiefs,” said Janet Galapo, franchise owner at FASTSIGNS of Westport.“
