Adobe Teams with MediaBin to Deliver Dynamic Imaging Capabilities

Press release from the issuing company

SAN JOSE, Calif.--July 30, 2002--Adobe Systems Incorporated, the leader in network publishing, today announced that MediaBin Inc., a leading provider of enterprise brand asset management software, has completed an agreement to include Adobe AlterCast(TM) software within its product suite, bringing enhanced image processing capabilities to MediaBin customers. Companies that create integrated advertising and marketing campaigns quickly find that publishing large volumes of images can be cumbersome and time intensive. Many of these companies work with multiple external agencies and must cope with high volumes of frequently changing images stored in many different locations. The overhead of managing large image libraries makes it difficult for businesses to capitalize on their brand assets in an efficient and consistent manner. The MediaBin Brand Asset Management system provides a web-accessible central catalog for digital assets, including graphics, product photos, Adobe PDF files, Microsoft Office documents and video files. Customers can protect brand assets by ensuring proper use, and increase collaboration with colleagues by accessing materials through a highly organized and automated system. With AlterCast, MediaBin users will have greatly enhanced image manipulation capabilities that will speed the process of producing visually rich, personalized images for web, print and wireless devices. The inclusion of the AlterCast imaging engine will reduce production bottlenecks by allowing graphics professionals and business users across the enterprise to manipulate images from any standard Web browser. "The MediaBin product is built upon a foundation of imaging innovation, which makes the inclusion of AlterCast a natural fit," said Julie McEntee, director, ePaper Solutions Group for Adobe. "MediaBin's expertise in the digital asset management space, combined with Adobe's expertise in rich digital content creation, offers customers a complete solution for producing and repurposing digital assets while realizing significant returns on investment." "The ability to access Adobe AlterCast's advanced image processing capabilities through our MediaBin server will further enhance our ability to rapidly publish our product photography to our print and online catalogs," said M. Buzz Morley, e-commerce project manager at luxury leather goods company Cole Haan. "Previously, we spent hours locating and preparing images for publication in different formats. Now we can easily locate the proper image and automatically render it for use in any medium. The time and cost-savings are well-worth the investment." Adobe AlterCast is built on award-winning Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator technology. It automates the process of reformatting and redesigning images for delivery on any web-enabled device, including PDA's and cell phones. AlterCast takes the busy work away from graphic designers and allows them to concentrate on more complex creative tasks. The Adobe AlterCast imaging engine is currently shipping with MediaBin's Enterprise Brand Asset Management systems. For more information, please visit www.mediabin.com.
