SAGEM Announces a Breakthrough Wireless Mobile PC

PARIS -- At a joint press conference today, SAGEM and Microsoft announced the SAGEM WA3050, the industry's first wireless Pocket PC with demonstrated GSM/GPRS technology. The SAGEM Pocket PC is equipped with dual-band GSM phone capabilities and high speed GPRS technology by SAGEM and is based on Microsoft's Windows Powered Pocket PC platform. This will enable customers to have real-time wireless access to information including email, the Web, time-sensitive corporate applications as well as high-end mobile phone capabilities. The SAGEM Pocket PC is thin and light, weighing in at 198 grams. Its refined design combines SAGEM's expertise in mobile phone design with the rich functionality of the Pocket PC platform. Users are able to take advantage of all the features of a high-end phone from a leading world-class phone manufacturer and all of the features of a high end Pocket PC with integrated wireless functionality, including: The ability to place and receive mobile phone calls, including hands-free and speakerphone capabilities, as well as, customisable phone features such as downloading personalised ring tones from the Web. Wireless Internet browsing over high-bandwidth wireless connections using Pocket Internet Explorer, and access to WAP information using an integrated browser; access to your personal business productivity applications including email, calendar, contacts using a pocket version of MicrosoftÆ OutlookÆ, plus pocket versions of Microsoft Word and Excel, with real-time wireless connectivity. Listening to MP3 audio files with Windows MediaTM Player or reading Ebooks with MicrosoftÆ Reader, in addition to thousands of add-on Pocket PC software applications and peripherals available from other companies. Caller alert functions ensuring that no calls are missed while using applications on the Pocket PC.
