OcÈ Displayed Complete Workflow Solutions at Xplor

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL -- OcÈ, a global leader in digital document management technology, spotlighted the latest additions to its line of document management products and services at this year's Xplor 2000 Global Electronic Document Systems Conference held in Miami Beach, Florida. OcÈ's theme, "Workflow Wizardry that Works," reflected the company's ability to provide a complete path to manage the productive flow of documents throughout an organization. OcÈ's Document Printing Systems business unit highlighted four new products at this trade show: OcÈ Scan Logic(tm) technology, OcÈ Find Logic(tm) document management software, the OcÈ DPS400 high-speed digital printing system, and the OcÈ 8465 digital printer with integrated High-Capacity Stacker and Active Registration software. "At this year's Xplor show, OcÈ demonstrated why it's a global leader in document workflow and output management," said Wendell Wilson, Group Vice President of OcÈ's Document Printing Systems business unit. "New solutions ranged from software technologies which function as the digital on-ramp in transforming paper documents to electronic files to new high-speed printing systems and integrated finishing devices." Step 1: OcÈ Scan Logic Technology Makes Hard Copy Conversion to Digital Easy In the past, digitizing paper documents was cumbersome, requiring expensive scanning equipment. The new OcÈ 3155SL and OcÈ 3165SL printers incorporate new OcÈ Scan Logic technology to allow the easy conversion of paper documents to useful electronic files. The easy-to-use OcÈ 3155SL and OcÈ 3165SL allow paper documents to be scanned quickly and sent to a desktop for faxing, e-mailing, combining with other documents, archiving, converting to searchable text through optical character recognition, and transmitting to an FTP address. With the touch of a button, the scanning function works at a rapid 54 pages-per-minute, automatically guaranteeing image quality and allowing even poor-quality originals to be scanned with enhanced legibility. Once scanned, the documents can be managed by a number of OcÈ supplied software solutions including OcÈ Find Logic and solutions from eCopy, ImageTag and Doculex. Step 2: OcÈ Find Logic Document Management Software Reproduces Information Quickly and Effortlessly The end is near for the laborious, time-intensive task of manually searching and organizing digital and hard copy files. OcÈ Find Logic software, a new document management software solution, allows users to locate and retrieve text quickly from scanned and electronic documents. The text search function allows users to search their digital files for simple words or word strings to obtain precisely targeted results, plus recognize the paper size, orientation and language of the original document. In addition, OcÈ Find Logic software's fuzzy logic search technology compensates for spelling mistakes, old and unclear documents, optical character recognition errors, and even hand-written documents that have been digitally archived. Searches can be conducted over the Internet, Intranet or local networks, allowing the software to serve as a personal "knowledge portal." When documents are retrieved, printing can be handled on local printers for immediate output or on central network printers for distribution. Step 3: OcÈ PRISMAflow Manages Multiple Printers, Ensures Quality Output Enterprise-wide An organization's printed output must be consistent, predictable and uniformly produced. OcÈ's PRISMAflow is an intelligent printing management system that handles processing, distributing and managing multiple printers. It streamlines the entire print process and consists of 26 different modules assembled into a single, cohesive package. Modular and scaleable, OcÈ PRISMAflow can be used to perform functions such as workload balancing, queue management, job control and form merging, job storage and usage reporting, among others. Also highlighted will be OcÈ PRISMA+LCDS which converts legacy Xerox Metacode applications to a non-proprietary data stream. Step 4: OcÈ Office Exec for Document Logistics, Intelligent Job Routing Time is money, and the average office worker spends much of it printing to slow, expensive desktop printers. To help offices increase productivity and save time and money, there's OcÈ Office Exec, a document output management system designed for coordinating document logistics in corporate office and Central Reproduction Department environments. After analyzing each print job's processing requirements, OcÈ Office Exec routes the job to the most appropriate printer based on the job's attributes. The software determines which printers on the network are most economical and efficient. OcÈ Office Exec can track output by user or department, ensure billing to the proper accounts and provide information for more efficient network management. This software is saving companies up to 50 percent on printing costs and reducing the staff time associated with printing and processing documents. Step 5: Finish by Printing on OcÈ's High-Speed, High-Quality Printers OcÈ DPS 400 Eases the Programming of High-Volume Printing and Copying Jobs OcÈ is introducing the first product of a new family of versatile, high-volume systems for centralized printing departments. This modular and scaleable system handles high-speed, real-time copy, print and scan functions. Programming print jobs can be as easy and intuitive as programming copy jobs with the OcÈ DPS400. Unlike other systems that demand jobs to be fully scanned before printing, the OcÈ DPS400 greatly enhances an operator's capabilities in scanning and preparing complex printing jobs by printing pages as they are scanned. In addition to a new digital print engine, which produces prints at a rate of more than 6000 images per hour with a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi, the system features a freestanding user console with one of the fastest integrated scanners in the segment. The OcÈ DPS400 is scheduled to launch in the U.S. in early 2001. OcÈ 8465 With High-Capacity Stacker Provides Productive and High-Quality Printing Plus Versatile Paper Handling Increasingly, OcÈ's robust, highly reliable OcÈ 8400 Series mid-range printers are being used in in-plant shops and data centers. In these higher volume applications, the new High-Capacity Stacker and Active Registration software provide enhanced functionality for longer runs without operator intervention. The new integrated OcÈ High-Capacity Stacker can stack up to 4,000 sheets on removable rolling carts, making it perfect for long run print jobs. Along with the ability to handle high volumes, the printer's new Active Registration page positioning module provides registration accuracy within one-half a millimeter, perfect for printing forms or tight register variable data printing applications. OcÈ Color System 200 Delivers Color at High Volumes Bring high-speed color printing in-house with the OcÈ CS200, a low-cost and high-performance color printer. This four-color, 400 dpi color system prints 31 images per minute, with simplex and duplex capability, for quick turnaround of high quality, short-run color jobs. Numerous options increase efficiency and system flexibility while OcÈ controllers provide EFI's Fiery(tm) technology for high-speed file processing, Pantone matching, offset simulation, advanced system management and automated production techniques.
