American Forest & Paper Association Releases August 2018 U.S. Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly Report

Washington, D.C. – The American Forest & Paper Association released its August 2018 U.S. Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly report on September 17.
Total Packaging Papers shipments were up 7.1 percent compared to August 2017 and up 2.1 percent year-to-date. Bag & Sack shipments were up 3.4 percent year-to-date; Multiwall shipments were flat; Converting shipments were up 1 percent; and Food Wrapping shipments were up 3.0 percent. The operating rate for August increased to its highest level for the year, up from 95.8 percent in July to 98.8 percent. Inventories dropped 6.1 percent since July.
