Adoption Grows for “Multi-Book” On Graphic Communication

Press release from the issuing company

Bainbridge Island, Wash. – With the availability of the new interactive, printed textbook, Introduction to Graphic Communication, 2nd Edition (www.igcbook.com), so far eight schools have adopted the book and many others are considering it. It features related video content and other interactive elements, accessed through the Ricoh Clickable Paper app for smartphones and tablets.

Adoptions range from four-year universities to two-year colleges and technical schools, and to high schools. They include: Arizona State University (Mesa, AZ), Bowling Green University (Bowling Green, OH), Calvert County Public Schools (Prince Frederick, MD), Keefe Regional Technical School (Framingham, MA), Lewis-Clark State College (Lewiston, ID), Metamora Township High School (Metamora, IL), Ryerson University (Toronto, ON), and South Central College (North Mankato, MN).

Cal Poly Professor Emeritus and co-author Harvey Levenson said, “I’m glad to see that the book is being adopted across a range of academic levels. That’s exactly what it is intended for, to bring learning and knowledge to students at all levels, and to teach what the modern field of graphic communication is all about. There are other books on this topic, but none provide the multi-media experience of this one. It appeals to different learning styles—reading, viewing, and listening—all in one printed book. It could be a stand-alone book on the topic, or it can be an excellent supplement to other books being used in academic programs.”

Through Ricoh’s Clickable Paper app, Introduction to Graphic Communication, 2nd Edition provides video and sound links demonstrating and describing graphic communication technology, thereby supplementing the printed text with a single “click” on the printed page. The Ricoh Clickable Paper app is free and available for iOS and Android devices.

Levenson said, “The book is not only about technology, the book IS technology, and can also be used as a training aid for those already in the graphic communication industry.”
